QPD 2008 Motorized Speaker

I need to cut 7 or 8 mounting holes in the ceiling of my den that will fit the QPD2008 speaker. Last time I cut a hole in the ceiling the dust destroyed half of the house.

So I put my thinking cap on and came up with this cutout template and dust collector that will catch the majority of the dust.

There is a process that will allow me to locate the cutout in the proper location centered on the TV (center of the wall) using the center hole in the template. Once that position is found the dust collector is squared to the wall from the listening area and holes are drilled up through the drywall. Once these holes are made, screws clamp the template and dust collector in place sandwiched to the drywall.

After double checking and triple checking fro proper alignment and spacing a vibrating multi-tool is used to cut the hole following the template.

Alternately,  shop vac can be attached if you have a good filter or a really long hose so you can have the vacuum outside. I made the nipple on the collector the size of my pool hose, its 50 ft long!

I added the text to ensure the holes are located in the right orientation as they are not symmetrical.
