Before floating the walls it became apparent to bring everything into plumb and square  and without moving the shower controls that it would be necessary to use an extension kit. When the valves were installed we had originally planned to use hardihacker thus the placement of the valves in the walls.

I contacted Danze custoemr service where it became apparent that my valves were outdated and had been replaced with newer parts and that there were no extension kits available for them. The customer service agent offered to send me new cartriges which after installation were supposed to allow me to use the extension kits for the current model valves.

Well as it turned out that  the new cartridges with entension kits were only ¼” longer than the old style valves which didn’t solve the problem.after many calls to tech support and several shipments of bits and pieces I was able to put everything together and only had to fabricate the temperature control stop part.

This is a Danze D5600 40 BNT Shower valve and trim kit.

This is the new style metal temp control handle. It uses the same button and spring combination as the old style. The new style uses a larger diameter internal spline and therefore the spring collapsed height dosent allow the pin to move as far so the reduced the wall thickness of the stop to accommodate this decreased travel.

I didn’t want to reduce the 3d printed parts stop wall thickness due to strength limitations of the process and material. I simply removed 1 ¼ coils from the spring to gain the necessary travel of the pin to clear the stop when overide is desired.

Here is the stop with an added ring bezel which has a well that is filled with silicone to provide a watertight seal between the back of the escutcheon plate and the stop. This should completely eliminate any possibility of water ingress. This would not be necessary if I had the new style escutcheon plate which has the stop installed from the outside not the inside.
